Root Soup
Carrots, turnips, ginger, and turmeric are true nutritional powerhouses. Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich, pain-relieving, germ-fighting, nutrient-dense, and immune-boosting—these are just a few of the qualities that define these humble root vegetables. So why not bring them together in one delicious, heart-warming soup?
From the very first spoonful, this soup feels like comfort and healing in a bowl. It’s nourishing, grounding, and deeply satisfying—the kind of meal that warms you from the inside out.
Need I say more? This is the kind of soup that doesn’t just feed you… it makes you feel better.

Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Medium Onion
- 3 Garlic cloves, Minced
- 1 T Fresh ginger, Grated
- 1 T fresh turmeric, Grated
- 3/4 Carrots
- 3/4 lbs Turnips
- 4 Cups Bone Broth, or Vegetable Broth, or Chicken Broth
- 1 Cup Coconut Milk (optional)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions:
Saute onion in olive oil in a dutch oven or pot.
Add garlic, ginger, turmeric, carrots, turnips, and broth.
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer until vegetables are tender.
Remove from heat and let cool enough to puree.
I used my NutriBullet with the largest cup and pureed a couple of batches.
Return to the pot and add coconut milk if desired.
Heat through.
I garnished with some pea shoots, just for a little "crunch".
Enjoy!
